Campaign "Help Me To Grow"
The Alliance of Alternative Child care (the Latvian Foster Family Association is a member of the Alliance) has started campaign "Help Me To Grow", and is financially supported by the Oak Foundation. The purpose of the campaign is to promote raising children in a healthy family environment. On May 14 2014 the movie "Bluff or Happy New Year", which was produced in Russia, was viewed at cinema "K-Suns".
The movie illustrates living conditions at orphanages compared to those of many children raised in families at home, and how an orphanage lacks a family environment and the love and care that comes from a healthy family environment. Following the movie, discussions ensued.
On May 15 2014 the partners of the Alliance organized an informative campaign near the Saeima (parliament) government building. Last year, on May 15 2013, the deputies of the Saeima were given toy bears with a label stating; "Voting for the 2014 budget, please don’t forget about me! Help me to grow in my family!"
This year, celebrating Family Day on May 15, leaflets were distributed to parliament members appealing for the protection of children’s rights.
