“Leadership and motivation: Opportunities for young people under guardianship”
The new leadership initiative, “Leadership and motivation: Opportunities for young people under guardianship” is designed for new and emerging leaders from foster care, and other young people who want to reach new levels in their personal development, improving and developing their abilities. The training program consists of practical and theoretical lessons, based on the adventure methods of learning by doing. The Latvian Foster Families Association in collaboration with the Society of Adventurers “Adventure Spirit” will implement the project. The project is financially supported by SIA "CEMEX".
The main activity of the initiative will focus on a 3-day off-site seminar on "Leadership and Motivation" held from October 30th to November 1st in Ķeguma County, Birzgales farmhouse "Rites".
Working methods:
Experience and adventure are two words that are mainly characterized by “Adventure Spirit” training methods. The training process is deeply personal, because a large part of the learning involves sharing personal experiences and feelings. Adventure is an effective method for pushing the boundaries of an individual’s personal comfort zone, and thereby providing an opportunity for personal development and gaining confidence and an increased feeling of self worth.
Camaraderie is what will make this training so special. The use of dance, performance and meditation, will be used to express emotion in a positive manner. One of the activities will be to visualize goals before they are reached, and to help oneself to more clearly see ones desires.
Training "Leadership and Motivation" is designed for individuals who:
- Are positive in their thinking and want to help those around them;
- Want to elevate their thinking and self-confidence to a new level;
- Are under 18 years old;
- Have been invited to participate, because you believe it will improve your skills;
- Are ready to build on their strengths and transform their weaknesses;
- Feel that they can be mentally stronger than you are now.
The event will take place in Ķeguma County, at the Birzgales farmhouse "Rites". The project will involve 25 youth, of which 15 will come from foster families and 10 will come from biological families.
